What Training Do Employees Need Beyond Prompt Writing?
Beyond prompt writing, employees need training in four areas: which data may go into which tool, how to check AI output before it leaves their hands, how to hand a whole task or workflow to AI, and when to disclose that AI contributed. AI Transformation Framework (AITF) schedules cohort training after the governance rules are in place, so each skill is taught from the company's own policy.
What does most employee AI training cover today?
Most employer training stays at the foundations.
The Conference Board's 2026 report Skilling for AI, built on interviews with 35 enterprise leaders and a global survey of nearly 1,300 workers, found that 55.1 percent of workers use generative AI or AI agents daily or weekly, and 33.3 percent used organization-provided AI training in the past six months. Many organizations emphasize AI literacy and basic prompting, and far fewer help workers build advanced capabilities such as managing AI agents. Nearly one-third of workers, 28.3 percent, say their organization provides no AI training at all.
ISACA's 2026 AI Pulse Poll, published in May 2026 and drawn from more than 3,400 digital trust professionals, found that 33 percent of organizations train all employees on AI.
What should employee AI training cover after prompting?
Four skills, each tied to a rule the company writes during governance:
Data rules. Which categories of information may go into which approved tool, taught from the company's data classification.
Output verification. Humans verify the output and cite sources.
Workflow delegation. Moving beyond manual prompting into workflow automation, including AI agents.
Disclosure. When employees flag AI use in internal deliverables, and the standard for client-facing and outbound communications.
AITF's Governance-in-a-Box rollout checklist covers acceptable use, sensitive data rules, an approval path for new tools, a prompting and output verification standard, and a training plan that sets who gets trained, when, and how to reinforce it.
When should employee AI training happen?
After the governance rules are in place.
In the AITF program, the Governance Gate closes at the end of month three with the governance tool live and a process to respond to requests. The Safety Gate at the end of month six confirms the roadmap has been communicated and cohort trainings are complete.
How much training time does an AITF engagement include?
Two 90-minute cohort training sessions for staff.
The Conference Board's report found that 48.0 percent of workers agree their organization provides sufficient time during work hours for AI skills development.
What do executives need to learn about AI?
AITF ran its readiness assessment on Paragus IT, its sister company. Paragus scored 4.33 out of 5 on Leader GenAI Usage and between 2.50 and 2.60 on Advanced AI Knowledge, where the assessment names coding AI and agentic AI as the gap. The roadmap that followed includes a targeted Agentic AI workshop within 60 days.
An AITF engagement includes 12 monthly meetings and up to six hours of one-on-one executive coaching.
How do you know employee AI training worked?
Every AITF engagement includes an AI Impact Dashboard, and the Proof Gate at the end of month seven confirms the dashboard is live to measure adoption and ROI signals.

How do employees keep building AI skills after the training sessions?
The readiness roadmap AITF built for Paragus IT includes a dedicated channel where team members share prompts, automations and the time they have saved, and a monthly check-in that lists three to five hours of weekly AI exploration.
Every AITF engagement includes a monthly checkpoint of 60 to 90 minutes covering decisions, blockers, outcomes and the next 30-day plan, plus Teams channel support with a two-business-day response.
